Ever see a cool girl on the street and want to stop her immediately and ask where, when, and how she procured every single part of her outfit? Yep, so do we.
In this new series, we tracked down a handful of those stylish, making-it-happen ladies to find out the story behind some of their favorite pieces and how they wear them.
Today, meet Sarah Lisitski-Gerrish, an accessories buyer at social shopping site OpenSky. We met Sarah when we launched our fab accessories-only mini-shop on OpenSky back in August and thought her style was just super-cool. Check out some of Sarah’s favorite pieces below, photographed in her chic Brooklyn abode.
One of her oldie-but-goodie pieces: “I found this vintage Max Mara dress at Fluke, a vintage store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn that has since closed. I have such a love/hate relationship with vintage shopping in Brooklyn because the prices and demand are usually much higher than in other areas but if you have the patience you can really find a gem. Obviously I love the print, it can easily transition from season to season when I switch up the accessories.”
Something she got for a steal: “I got this necklace on OpenSky.com. I love how it helps you easily achieve two of the season’s big trends: black and gold and the statement collar necklace.”
Her fiercest heels: “I love the details on these Moschino Cheap and Chic heels – I am a sucker for studs. Also, the strap placement flatters the foot and the platform makes them really comfortable. I refuse to wear shoes that I can’t walk in, it’s never cute.”
Her date-night go-to: “My husband is a music producer/engineer and I’m a wanna-be DJ and self-proclaimed music snob, so our date nights usually consist of going to see live shows. The vibe is definitely more “downtown” so my date look almost always includes this Vince leather jacket. The buttery soft leather and shoulder details qualify this as one of my favorite pieces.”
Her favorite sparkly piece: “The last time I was in London I found this gorgeous Tom Binns bracelet at Kabiri in Covent Garden. What I love about Tom Binns jewelry is how he mixes elegance with rock n’ roll, something I aspire to do with my wardrobe. Also, London happens to be my favorite place on earth so wearing this bracelet always reminds me of it.”
Her favorite dress: “I found this dress at a Phillip Lim sample sale a few years ago and it started my love affair with the brand. The vibrant digital print is refreshing and the embellishments layered on top of the print take it to another level. It is so special and it makes me feel that way when I wear it.”
Something she splurged on: “These Rag & Bone boots were an easy splurge for me because they are so wearable! I pair them with skinny jeans, skirts, dresses – literally everything. The stacked heel makes them really comfortable for running around the city on appointments and I love that the ankle dips low and doesn’t shorten my legs. They are the most perfect shoes.”
Her important-meeting standby: “Red is such a power color that this blazer tends to be one of my go-tos during the work week. I usually pair it with my SEE eyeglasses, a white t-shirt and black jeans. OpenSky has a young, creative team so our meetings never feel stuffy or corporate. We even celebrate successes within the company with shots of tequila!”
Something she bought for fall-winter: “I bought these C.Wonder bangles on OpenSky.combecause even though I own a ton of jewelry I surprisingly don’t have any animal jewelry pieces, which was a huge trend this fall. The price makes them a no-brainer.”
